Our Story

Our Philosophy: Built for the Journey to Remote Breaks
The best surf isn't at the parking lot. It's down the trail, around the point, at the end of a dirt road that requires carrying your board and overnight gear into wild, remote places. But most surf gear is designed for the beach, not the backcountry.
The problem: Cheap packs fail when you need them most—halfway down a coastal trail with a surfboard, tent, sleeping bag, and water loaded up. Broken zippers, torn straps, and blown seams mean gear ends up in landfills while you're stuck replacing it every couple of seasons. That's disrespectful to the wild places we surf.
Our approach: We build gear for surf adventurers who hike, camp, and carry their boards to remote breaks. The SurfPack features patented design elements, expedition-grade materials (1000 denier D.W.R. polyester, YKK AquaGuard zippers, reinforced stitching at load points), and removable components for field repair. It's engineered to carry heavy loads over rugged terrain and handle years of salt, sand, and backcountry abuse.
Why it matters: Buying one quality pack that lasts 10 years of surf missions beats buying three or four cheap bags over the same period. You save money, reduce waste, and trust your gear when you're miles from the trailhead with a firing swell.
Our roots: SurfPack was born from a surf camping trip to Channel Islands National Park, where founder Tamlorn Chase hiked in with his board and realized that gear built for remote coastal adventures should reflect the respect we have for wild places. Based in Santa Barbara and connected to California's rugged coastline, we're committed to making products that handle the journey—not just the destination.
Quality isn't about spending more—it's about spending once, and trusting your gear on every mission to the breaks that matter.
